The Peacock men's soccer squad closed out their 2009 campaign Sunday afternoon as they travelled to Bismarck, North Dakota to battle the Marauders of U-Mary, trying to avenge a 1-0 loss to the Marauders earlier in the season when U-Mary left Fayette with a 1-0 victory on October 16. Upper Iowa scored a pair of second half goals to hand the Marauders a home loss, 2-0.
After a scoreless first half, UIU's Zach Castor headed a shot into the net in the 48th minute to give Upper Iowa a 1-0 lead. Then, in the 75th minute, Derek Oelmann booted a penalty kick into the netting to give Upper Iowa an insurance goal and a 2-0 victory.
The Peacocks tallied 14 shots for the match and earned eight corner kicks in their final match of the season. Goalkeeper Andy Youde completed the shutout after turning away three Marauder shots.
Upper Iowa closes out the 2009 season after posting a 7-12-1 record while U-Mary fell to 8-10-1 with the loss.
