The Peacock women's soccer team closed out the 2009 season Sunday afternoon by visiting Bismarck, North Dakota to play the Marauders of the University of Mary. After an uneventful first half, the Marauders dashed UIU's chance at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament as they scored a goal right after the halftime break to take a 1-0 lead and victory.

Late in the 48th minute, U-Mary's Michelle Jones chipped a shot over Peacock goalkeeper Melissa Heitzman for the only goal of the match. Heitzman made seven saves on the afternoon, six of which came in the second half.

U-Mary took twice as many shots, 12, and earned one more corner kick than did the Peacocks.

With the loss, UIU completed the 2009 season with a 10-9-4 record which includes a 4-6-3 mark in league play. U-Mary improved to 9-8-3 for the season and qualified for the NSIC tournament as the fifth seed.
