The Peacock volleyball team welcomed the Warriors of Winona State to Dorman Gym on Friday night for UIU's only match of the week. Upper Iowa defended Prochaska Court and came away with a straight set victory. With the win, Upper Iowa improves to 14-15 overall, while Winona State falls to 7-19. Both teams are now 5-10 in NSIC matches.
The Peacock offense got stronger as the match moved along culminating in UIU's .429 hitting percentage in the third set. Both teams recorded 38 kills, but WSU committed 13 more attacking errors in the match.
Upper Iowa was led by Nicky Brown (12 kills, 6 digs), Shea Meyermann (10 kills, 8 digs), Sara Vance (10 kills, 7 digs), Keri Vance (27 assists, 8 digs), and Maryn Fulton (4 blocks).
The Peacocks will continue to chase the first-ever winning season in program history next weekend when they host the University of Mary and Northern State University on Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7. Upper Iowa's seniors will be honored prior to the match on Saturday afternoon.
