Tritons Defeat Peacocks on Chilly Afternoon in Fayette

The Upper Iowa Men's Soccer team was back in action Monday afternoon as they welcomed the Tritons of the University of Missouri-St. Louis to Pattison Field in Fayette. The Tritons defeated UIU 3-1 on a chilly, overcast day in Fayette.

The Tritons netted a goal in the 25th minute to take a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. UMSL put two more goals in the net early in the second half before UIU's Josh Danielson broke through in the 80th minute and blasted a rebound into the net to break the Triton shutout. However, the Peacocks wouldn't get any closer and dropped the match 3-1.

Statistically the match was much closer than the score indicated as Missouri-St. Louis only outshot UIU, 12-11, which included an 8-6 clip in shots on goal. The Peacocks also tallied two more corner kicks.

The Peacock Men's Soccer team will be back on Pattison Field on Friday, Oct. 16 when the University of Mary visits Fayette for a 1 p.m. showdown. Following the men's match on Friday, the Peacock Women's Soccer team will play Concordia-St. Paul at 3 p.m.
