#20 Winona State Defeats Upper Iowa in NSIC Road Game

The Peacock men's basketball team took the floor tonight looking to continue their winning ways in the Northern Sun Conference. Last weekend the UIU won both of their NSIC games at home. The Peacocks traveled to southeastern Minnesota for a game against the Warriors of Winona State, who sit atop the NSIC and are ranked #20 in the country. Winona State used an impressive shooting display in the first half to build a 59-36 lead at halftime and didn't let up in the second half as they ran away from the Peacocks, 101-53.

For the game, Winona State shot 66% from the floor including 71% from beyond the arc. The Warriors hit 15 of their 21 three point attempts.

Matt Lesan led the Peacocks in scoring with 16 points. Alex Kramer hit for 8 and Chris Sullivan added 7. Kramer also led UIU in rebounding with 4. Storm Schmitt, Dan Bestul and Sullivan all grabbed 3 boards.

Upper Iowa (4-16, 3-10 NSIC) will stay away from Dorman Gym for their next two games against the University of Mary and Northern State University. The Peacocks and Marauders will battle in Bismarck, North Dakota on Friday, Feb. 6. Upper Iowa will then travel south to Aberdeen, South Dakota to line up against the Wolves on Saturday, Feb. 7. Both games are scheduled to tip at 8 p.m. following the women's games.
