Warriors Hand Peacocks Loss

Final Stats

The Upper Iowa women's basketball team traveled to Winona, Minnesota for their latest Northern Sun Conference game. The Peacocks took on the Warriors of Winona State University. The home team used a 6-2 advantage in three pointers in the first half to put the Peacocks into a ten-point hole at halftime. UIU's offense picked up in the second half, but so did WSU's. The visitors were outscored by eleven in the second half and fell, 83-62.

Five Peacocks marked the scoring column on the night. Lyndsay Westgaard led Upper Iowa with 15 points. Inga Briede netted 14, Lana Otting chipped in 13, Britney Iredale added 11, and Paige DeVine recorded 9. Iredale and Westgaard each pulled down 9 rebounds, Westgaard's boards included 6 offensive caroms.

Upper Iowa (5-15, 1-12 NSIC) will remain on the road for their next two games against the University of Mary and Northern State University. The Peacocks and Marauders will take the court in Bismarck, North Dakota on Friday, Feb. 6. UIU will then move on to Aberdeen, South Dakota to face the Wolves on Saturday, Feb. 7. Both games are scheduled to tip at 6 p.m.
