Peacocks Fall to Bulldogs at Truman

Sept. 18, 2008

Box Score

The Peacock men's soccer team traveled to Kirksville, Missouri on Wednesday to match up with the Bulldogs of Truman State, who came into the match with a 2-3 record. Upper Iowa gave up two first half goals to Truman State and only managed a single score as time wound down in the second half. Truman took the victory 2-1 and improved to 3-3 on the year, while the loss dropped Upper Iowa to 3-4-1. The men's soccer team continues to show improvement despite the loss. Last season, the Bulldogs beat the Peacocks 4-0 in Fayette.

Truman State put the first score on the board in the 10th minute when Robbie Narrow took a shot that hit the post, collected his own rebound, and placed the ball past UIU's keeper Andy Youde. Scott Biggerstaff capitalized on a flurry of action in front of the Peacock net in the 34th minute and put Truman ahead by a 2-0 margin.

Craig Signorin pulled the Peacocks closer, 2-1, after firing a long shot from the middle of the field that flew into the back of the net in the 87th minute, giving Upper Iowa some last-minute momentum. UIU was unable to get any closer and fell for the fourth time this season.

The Bulldogs held a 21-12 advantage in shots, including an 11-3 edge in shots on goal. Youde made 9 saves in goal for the Peacocks including 7 in the first half when Truman racked up 15 shots.

Upper Iowa will host the Warriors of Waldorf College on Monday, Sept. 22, at Pattison Field in Fayette. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
