The Upper Iowa women's soccer team finished a good weekend of Northern Sun Conference action with an overtime victory on the road. The Peacocks defeated the Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul 2-1 in overtime to improve their overall record to 7-7-2 and 4-4-1 in NSIC action. After the loss, Concordia's record fell to 6-11 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

Upper Iowa put the first score on the board in just the ninth minute of the match. Cara Mauldin scored the Peacock goal to give the visitors a 1-0 lead early in the contest. Upper Iowa was able to hold their lead throughout the first half, although Concordia matched their guests shot for shot as each team fired 11 shots.

Concordia tied the ball game in the 82nd minute on a goal by Casandra Rikkola which was assisted by Savannah Nolen. The game moved into the first ten-minute overtime period, but Emily Gielau did not let play go very long. Just 1:28 into the extra period Gielau scored the game winner on an assist from Tiffany Barnish.

For the match, Concordia outshot Upper Iowa 21-19 and held a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal. Melissa Heitzman made 9 saves in goal to pick up the victory

Upper Iowa will host Minnesota State University, Mankato and Southwest Minnesota State this coming weekend, Oct. 25 and 26. Both matches will take place on Pattison Field in Fayette beginning at 1 p.m.
