Peacocks Fall to Huskies in Second Half

Dec. 5, 2007

Box Score

The Peacock men's basketball team was back on the road again Wednesday night for a non-conference match up with future NSIC foe St. Cloud State University. The Huskies came into the contest undefeated and ranked #14 in the latest NABC Poll. Upper Iowa played well in the first half and led for a good part of the first twenty minutes. A late run by St. Cloud gave them a ten point lead in the half, but Upper Iowa was able to cut the lead back to four points at half 37-33. The Peacock rally before half was sparked by an Alex Kramer jumper and an A.J. Adkins three-pointer. The Huskies took control of the game early in the second half thanks to a 20-6 run that gave the home team a 17-point lead with twelve minutes to play. St. Cloud State closed out the victory and extended the final margin to 72-49.

Freshman Matt Lesan led the Peacocks in scoring with 15 points, while Storm Schmitt and Marcus Uhlenhopp both netted 8 points. Chris Sullivan, Alex Kramer, and Nick Kramer anchored UIU's effort on the boards as each pulled down 5 rebounds. Jude Roybal dished out 5 assists in the game. The Peacocks shot a 46% in the first half, but only managed 17% in the second half in falling to the #14 Huskies.

Upper Iowa will travel to Winona State this Saturday, Dec. 8th, to face the #5 Warriors in their third NSIC contest of the season. The Peacocks and Warriors will tip off at 8:00 p.m. following the women's game.
