Peacocks Claim Shutout Victory at Viterbo

Oct. 3, 2007

Box Score

The Peacock men's soccer team traveled to LaCrosse, Wisconsin on Wednesday to take the field against the V-Hawks of Viterbo University. The teams entered the game having both only notched three marks in the win column, but Upper Iowa proved to want number four more. The visitors blanked the home team 4-0 and improved their record to 4-10.

The Peacock have been much improved since playing against Truman State, but have come out on the short end of a couple tight matches. Jasmin Arapovic put his stamp on the match in the first half with two goals. The first came in the 19th minute thanks to an assist from Tavo Gomez and the second came in the 38th minute off an assist by Ken Andersen. The Peacocks took a 2-0 lead in to the break and didn't let up in the second half.

Josh Anderson added to the UIU lead in the 49th minute when he scored the Peacocks' third goal of the afternoon. Jacob Rasbeck assisted on the goal. The final goal of the match came off the foot of Ken Andersen in the 82nd minute. Freshman Aaron Hoyne picked up the assist on the final score. The Peacock defense played well in front of keeper Andy Youde, who made 8 saves while picking up a shutout victory on the road.

The team will head back out on the road this weekend with a game at the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 3:00 p.m.
