Wayne, Nebraska was the latest stop for the Peacock volleyball team as they took the court versus the Wildcats of Wayne State College. The Wildcats swept the Peacocks in three games as Upper Iowa continues to search for their first Northern Sun victory of the year.
Upper Iowa was blown out in game one, 30-14, as they were only able to manage 8 kills on 43 attempts with 9 errors for a -.023 hitting percentage. The Wildcats on the other hand tallied 14 kills with only 5 errors for a .214 percentage. The visitors picked it up in game two and hit .208 with 16 kills and only 6 errors, but still lost the game 30-23. The Wildcats capped off their sweep of the Peacocks in game three as the home team hit .279, while the visitors hit .128.
Beth Deutmeyer led the Peacock offense with 14 kills, while Shea Meyermann tallied 11 and Keely Jones with 8. Keri Vance, 20 assists, and Tatiana Jackson, 11 assists, set up the offense for the match. Meyermann's defense led the squad with 25 digs.
The Peacocks (4-13, 0-7 NSIC) travel to Mankato, Minnesota for a non-conference match with the Mavericks of MSU, Mankato on Tuesday, Oct. 2nd, at 7:00 p.m.
