Trevor Franklin (#1 NCAA) made an impressive return to the mat with four bonus point wins on his way to the title at 133 pounds at the Midwest Classic. Last year’s NCAA Division II Champion at 125 pounds came out in a fury with three wins by fall on day one; the first two pins came in the first period, while the third pin that pushed him into the semis came in the third period. On day two, Franklin won his semifinal match over Travis Barroquillo of Indiana Tech by decision, 8-2. In the finals, the redshirt junior registered a major decision victory, 11-3, over Michael Magaha of Limestone, a two-time national qualifier and all-American. With the five wins to open his 2011-12 campaign, Franklin has pushed his win streak to 21 straight matches.
