Upper Iowa University Athletics

Caral Martinson, who improved by four strokes from day one to card a 79 and move from 13th to 8th on the leaderboard, led the Peacock in the fall half of the NSIC Championships.  Martinson scored in the top 10 for par three (3.38) and par four (4.55) scoring, while ranking 12th in par five scoring (5.50).  She tied for the second most pars over the weekend with 21.
Upper Iowa sits in sixth place after the completion of the first two rounds of the NSIC Championships at The Jewel in Lake City, Minn.  The Peacocks shot a second day score of 342 (+54) to finish the fall half at 683, eleven strokes behind the fifth-place Mustangs of SMSU.
Katie Brossard turned in an 88 to follow her day one 85  and is in 26th, while McKenzie Holthaus (87-87/t-27th) and Carmen Lezpona (86-88/t-27th) are tied inside the top 30 on the individual's leaderboard.  Jackie Berry improved her day two total by four strokes (93-89/t-38th) to climb seven spots on the leaderboard and round out the Peacock fivesome.
 
The NSIC Women's Golf Championship is a four-round tournament split between the fall and spring seasons. The spring's final two rounds take place at Dacotah Ridge Golf Course in Morton, Minn.
