Sara Vance became only the second Peacock in the program’s history to reach the 1,000 kill plateau. The senior from Tampa, Florida topped the 1,000 kill mark on Friday night in a monster game for the Peacocks.
Vance registered 27 kills, 23 digs and 7 assisted blocks at Northern State to lead Upper Iowa to a five-set win. She added 13 more on Saturday at U-Mary as the team won in four sets to complete a great weekend. She now sits at 1,032 kills for her career in Peacock blue. For the weekend, Vance hit .358 with a 4.44 kill/set average and added 3.44 digs/set, 13 assisted blocks (1.44/set) and 4 service aces.
The Peacocks came up with a pair of great road wins over the weekend pushing their overall record to 9-7 and improving their NSIC record to 3-4. The team held their opponents to .157 hitting for the two matches thanks to big play at the net. The Peacocks averaged 2.89 blocks/set this past weekend recording 4 solo blocks and 44 assisted blocks.
UIU has a busy week ahead with a home match against St. Cloud State on Tuesday night and then road matches at #1 Concordia and St. Cloud State on Friday and Saturday.
