Trevor Franklin led the Peacocks and was certainly one of the most impressive wrestlers at the NCAA Division II level in Cedar Falls over the weekend at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals. Franklin posted a 3-0 record earning 16 points for the Peacocks with two wins by fall, one in the first period and one in the third. After scoring two falls, the redshirt sophomore claimed an 11-1 major decision in the Peacocks’ final dual.

 

Franklin has never lost a match in an Upper Iowa dual. He is now 19-0 in his time with UIU. He went 16-0 in duals in 2008-09 at 133 pounds and now is 3-0 at 125 pounds this year. For the season, Franklin is ranked #3 in the nation at 125 pounds and is 14-2 with seven wins by fall, a win by technical fall and a pair of major decisions.

 

The Peacocks went 1-2 at the National Duals and now are ready to defend their Northern Sun Conference Championship from a year ago. UIU is hosting two NSIC duals this week. Upper Iowa will welcome U-Mary at 7 p.m. on Thursday night and then host Northern State at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
