Upper Iowa University Athletics

Upper Iowa picked up a split in their two games at the Radisson Roseville Thanksgiving Basketball Classic hosted by Concordia in St. Paul, Minn.  The Peacocks lost a close final decision, 63-61, to the Academy of Art after a slow start that saw the Knights get out to a 20-3 lead.  The Peacocks’ fierce rally fell just short as their opponents knocked down their free throws in the final minutes to maintain their advantage.  On Saturday, UIU broke free from Valley City State in the second half to post their first win of the season, 88-59.  The Peacocks outscored the Vikings 51-25 in the second half after heading to the break with a slim three-point advantage. 

Upper Iowa will spend the week preparing for a matchup with #5 Winona State in the teams’ NSIC opener in Winona, Minn. this Saturday night at 7 p.m.
