Logan Hopp

Hopp battled back all weekend from an opening round loss to win his final five matches and claim thrid place in the heavywight bracket.  The New Hampton, Iowa native won all three of his matches on Sunday by one-point decisions that all ended in regulation.  A 2-1 decision over Dequence Goodman of Central Missouri pushed him into the consolation semifinals where he edged Mitchell Eull of Minot State (7-6).  In the third place match, Hopp posted a 3-2 decision to earn the victory and accept his invitation to St. Louis. Hopp is one of 16 Northern Sun Conference wrestlers headed to St. Louis for the NCAA Championships on March 13-14.

The Peacocks placed 6th at the overly-competitive NCAA Super Region 3 Tournament that featured wrestlers from eight of the top 15 teams in the country.  Upper Iowa placed seven of their ten wrestlers in the top six of their respective weight classes, but only Hopp made the cut in fourth or better.  The Peacocks had two wrestlers place fifth and four grapplers place sixth.
