Smith rushed for the fifth highest single-game total in Peacock history as he carried the ball 34 times for 247 yards and three touchdowns in a 47-30 win over Bemidji State. The Brown Deer, Wis. native set a new Peacock record when he broke loose for a 99-yard score in the second quarter. Smith has now rushed for over 200 yards seven times in his career and he broke the UIU record for career touchdowns as he now stands at 36 in his four years in Peacock blue and white. The senior's 10 touchdowns through the first three games of 2014 are second most in the nation this season.

Upper Iowa scored 27 points in the fourth quarter to rally from a ten-point deficit and win 47-30 over Bemidji State University. The win marks the first time that UIU has started 3-0 since the 1990 season and the team's first victory over BSU. The Peacocks had lost the previous five meetings. A 20-0 lead looked like it might not be enough for the home team as the Beavers scored 30 unanswered points taking a 30-20 lead into the final frame, but for the second time in as many home games, UIU erupted in the fourth quarter to rally and earn the victory.
