Upper Iowa secured second place in the Northern Sun Conference on Sunday with a 24-13 victory over Augustana College to finish the regular season with a 7-1 mark in the conference and a 15-2-1 record overall. The Peacocks bounced back quickly after St. Cloud State claimed the NSIC Championship on Saturday with a 28-6 win over UIU. Two wrestlers won both of their matches over the weekend and finished with identical 18-0 records in Upper Iowa’s duals. Carl Broghammer (#2 NWCA) and Edwin Cooper (#2 NWCA) both earned a pair of decisions over their Husky and Viking opponents. With the wins, Broghammer has 135 career victories and is now just two wins shy of taking over the all-time wins mark for the Peacock wrestling program. Upper Iowa will now train for the next two weeks in preparation for the NCAA Division II Super Regional 3 hosted by Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla. on Feb. 28-Mar. 1. The top five wrestlers in each of the ten weight classes will earn a berth to the NCAA Division II Championships being held in Cleveland, Ohio on Mar. 14-15.
