Chris Paulus posted a pair of wins by fall to open both of Upper Iowa’s road victories this past weekend. In just his second and third matches since returning from an injury, the junior earned his pins in 1:11 and 1:07. Paulus is now 19-10 on the year and 3-0 in NSIC duals. For the season, he has 4 falls, a tech fall and 7 major decisions under his belt.
The #7 Peacocks continued their winning ways this weekend with a pair of NSIC victories over Minot State, 34-15, and U-Mary, 46-6. In total, the Peacocks won 16 of the matches with 8 coming by fall and two by major decision. The eight falls allowed UIU to jump back into second place among all divisions with 151 on the season and extended their lead on St. Cloud State (130) among NCAA Division II members. Senior Carl Broghammer earned his 131st and 132nd wins of his career and is now just five short of the all-time wins mark at UIU. The Peacocks will host the Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato on Friday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m.
