Aimee Wronski scored two goals and added two assists this past weekend to propel the Peacocks to their second straight weekend sweep in conference play at home. As a junior, Wronski is averaging nearly a goal a game (0.88) and now has 14 goals this season, which is the most by any player in a single season at Upper Iowa since the Peacocks joined the Northern Sun Conference. Against Augustna on Saturday, Wronski created the Peacocks only scoring play with her fifth assist of the season, which turned out to be the difference as UIU held on for the 1-0 victory at home.
On Sunday, she found the back of the net twice and added an assist in the Peacocks’ 5-0 victory over the Wildcats of Wayne State. In the 35th minute, Wronski curved a corner kick right into the net partly thanks to a strong breeze. That score gave the Peacocks a 3-0 lead, but she wasn’t done yet. Just before halftime she added an assist to her stat line and in the 66th minute of action, she added her second goal of the game and 14th of the season. Wronski leads the league this year with seven game-winning goals in 2013. In all, she had ten shots over the weekend and placed half of those on frame.
