Jacqueline Flood earned a 3-0 record for Upper Iowa with 23.1 innings in the pitching circle. The freshman hurler allowed nine runs, but only four were earned, on 21 hits while striking out 22 batters. Flood posted a 1.20 ERA for the week while holding opponents to a .216 batting average. Flood also hit .450 this week with 9 hits in 20 at bats including a double and a homerun. The long ball came in the tenth inning and was a walk-off that earned both the team and herself (as the pitcher) the victory.
Bailee Haberman hit .500 this week with 9 hits in 18 at bats including a trio of doubles. UIU’s leftfielder also recorded four rbi’s and four runs scored while slugging .667 leading the Peacocks to a 5-1 record this week. The senior saw her average climb to .315.
Upper Iowa has won five straight and seven of their last eight games to climb the NSIC Standings to eighth place with a 10-6 mark. In addition to Haberman, the Peacocks saw great hitting from Whitney Williams (.474), Flood (.450), Anello (.435), Duran (.429), Haning (.364) and Missy Olson (.300). Brooke Redmond also threw well earning a 2-1 record with a save in 18.2 innings; she allowed just three earned runs while striking out 17 batters and holding opponents to a .214 average. The Peacocks split with Concordia on Tuesday and then swept Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State over the weekend. This week, UIU is slated to head out on the road for double headers with Augustana on Wednesday, Bemidji State on Saturday and Minnesota Crookston on Sunday.
