Mikey Henrichs hit .567 last week for Upper Iowa at the Winning Inning Clearwater Invitational.  Henrichs racked up 17 hits including a pair of doubles in 30 at bats and added nine walks for a .683 on base percentage in Florida as the Peacocks went 4-5 on their southern swing.  The senior spearheaded the UIU offense with 10 runs batted in and 10 runs scored; he also was nearly untouchable on the basepaths stealing 8 bases in 10 attempts.

Eric Anderson earned two wins on the trip improving to 3-0 on the season.  In his two starts, Anderson recorded an earned run average of 2.25 in 12 innings of work allowing just 3 runs on 9 hits while striking out 16 batters.  Opponents hit just .205 against the Peacock southpaw.  Anderson also hit .385 with 5 hits in 13 at bats with an rbi and a run scored.

Upper Iowa started their play in the Winning Inning Clearwater Invitational with a 3-1 record after a split with Kentucky Wesleyan and a sweep of Ohio Valley before matching up with #3 Tampa.  The Peacocks lost 5-2, but had a pair of runners on when a long fly off the bat of Jose Aguirre chased the Tampa outfielder to the wall for the final out of the game.  After a day off, the Peacocks did not fare as well.  UIU was swept by Tiffin and then split their final day matchups with a win against Minnesota, Crookston before a loss to Mansfield sent the team home with a 7-6 overall record.

For the week, UIU hit .325 led by Henrichs (.567), Anderson (.385), Aguirre (.379), Sam Kortes (.357), Tyler Adams (.344), Jimmy Pinakidis (.333) and Will Loza (.333).  Martin Valez posted a 4.00 ERA and a 1-0 record with 11 strikeouts in two appearances for the Peacocks, while Matt Banks earned a victory in his only start of the week.  As a pitching staff, UIU recorded a 6.65 ERA with opponents hitting .322 against UIU.

The Peacocks are scheduled to play the Marauders of U-Mary in Fayette this Saturday and Sunday to open the NSIC season.
