Tyler Adams hit .571 for the opening weekend thanks to 8 hits in 14 at bats including a double. He drove in six Peacocks and crossed home plate three times; the UIU centerfielder also stole a base.
Martin Valdez threw a complete game against Minnesota, Crookston as the Peacocks won 6-1. Valdez threw seven innings allowing one run on five hits while striking out six and walking three Golden Eagles.
Upper Iowa went 3-1 at the NSIC Metrodome Classic with a split against Southwest Minnesota State and a two-game sweep of Minnesota, Crookston. The Peacocks hit .309 and slugged .418 with six doubles and a pair of homeruns. On the mound, UIU pitchers registered a 3.10 ERA in 29 innings. The staff allowed 13 runs, 10 of which were earned, on 25 hits and 9 walks while striking out 27 batters. The Mustangs and Golden Eagles combined to hit . 227 in four games.
UIU is off until March 10 when they begin play in the Clearwater Invitational in Clearwater, Florida during spring break.
