Willy Kelly, class of 1950, was a four-year letter winner and starter on the Upper Iowa football team. Also as a Peacock, he was a member of the undefeated 1946 conference football championship team, the 1947 conference co-championship team and the 1948 conference championship team. In four years of football at UIU, Willy played with a Peacock squad that lost a total of only five games. He received All-Conference honors all four years at UIU (1946-49); was named to the 1947 second team as a Little All-American; and in 1949, he was a football team captain. He also lettered one year each in basketball and track.
Prior to attending UIU, Willy enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following graduation, he spent 40 years in sales management in the educational material and correctional fields.
He lives in Tucson, Arizona with his wife, Helen. Helen (Garrison) also attended Upper Iowa. They are the parents of Michael, Karla and Tim.
