Travis Eggers was inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame as an athlete. Eggers was a four-year letter winner with the Peacock wrestling team from 2007-10. He graduated with a degree in fitness and wellness.
Eggers dominated on the mats for the Peacock wrestling team posting a 100-34 win-loss record in his four year in an Upper Iowa singlet and closed out his career on a 19-match win streak. The Monona, Iowa product earned three NCAA Division II All-American honors thanks to a fourth-place finish at 157 pounds in 2008, a second-place finish at 165 pounds in 2009 and the 165-pound NCAA Division II Championship in 2010. Eggers qualified for the 2007 NCAA Division II Championships as a freshman in 2007 as well. He placed second at the NCAA Regional for three years before claiming the title as a senior and earning the regional’s Outstanding Wrestler honor. Eggers was named the Northern Sun Conference Wrestler of the Year as a sophomore and as a senior. In 2018, Eggers was named to the Jim Koch Division II Wrestling Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding career at Upper Iowa.
Upper Iowa posted a 43-11 dual meet record over the four years that Eggers wrestled on the varsity mat. UIU won the Northern Sun Conference team title three times and placing second in 2008-09. The Peacocks also claimed their first NCAA Division II trophy with a third-place finish in 2010. In addition to Eggers’ NCAA Championship title,
Tyler Mumbulo placed second at 125 pounds and Kyle Pedretti and fellow-Hall of Fame inductee Mitch Norton placed third at 133 and 174 pounds, respectively.
Eggers works as a civilian detention officer with the Bremer County Sheriff Department and is pursuing a career in law enforcement. He married his wife Stacia eight years ago. The couple is blessed with two daughters, Kiaya and Peyton.
