Tim Bell was inducted into the Upper Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame as a coach. Bell graduated from Upper Iowa in 1976. He competed with the Peacock baseball team during his final two years on campus and completed his degree in physical education.
 
Upon graduating, Bell began teaching and coaching at Ar-We-Va High School. He coached the boys’ basketball team for 39 years and stepped down after the 2015-16 season, in which the team posted a record of 19-3. During his time at the top of the Rocket boys’ basketball program, he accumulated 527 wins and a winning percentage of .636 in 829 games. The team claimed 12 conference titles and reached three sub-state finals in 2005, 2009 and 2014. Bell was named a sub-state coach of the year in 2005 and was inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association Boys’ Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.
 
Tim resides in Westside, Iowa and is now retired after officiating both football and basketball at several levels from middle school to junior college.
