Stephen Everett received his B.A. from Upper Iowa University in 1934 and did graduate work at Buena Vista College, Storm Lake, Iowa. Although injuries hampered his college career in sports, he went on to become an outstanding coach. Everett has been honored by the Des Moines Register as Football Coach of the Year in 1962. He was placed in the Iowa Football Hall of Fame in 1968, Iowa Track Coaches Hall of Fame in 1978-79 and Iowa Athletic Director’s Hall of Fame in 1978.
