Rob ReinertROB REINERT, class of 1965, is being inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletic Hall of Fame in the athlete category. He was a four-year letterman in both football, as a back, and in baseball, as a catcher, for the Peacocks. Reinert was named to the All-IIAC First Team backfield in 1963, repeating that same honor in 1964. He received NAIA baseball honors during his collegiate days as well.

During his football career, as a junior he was second in the conference in scoring, while his final statistics from his senior year saw him finishing sixth in the IIAC in scoring, leading the team with 84 points – breaking through the record established in 1927 by Hall of Famer Roger Dooley for most points in a single season. Reinert averaged 7.17 yards per carry during his final year in the Peacock uniform, losing only six yards rushing all year. He also lead the Peacocks in rushing, scoring and pass receiving.

His final career rushing yards totaled 2,909, and he set two new IIAC single season records in 1964 with 23 extra points and 271 total points.

Reinert started his coaching and teaching career in 1965 at Fort Dodge, Iowa, as an assistant coach in football. He made career moves to DeSoto, Wisconsin, Logan, Iowa, DeForest, Wisconsin, and to Lodi, Wisconsin. His overall record as a head coach was 149-60. Reinert coached wrestling for two years at Logan and now, in his 23rd year at DeForest, has a dual meet record of 152-51, coaching 63 conference champions, 49 state qualifiers, 36 state place winners and 7 state champions.

A graduate of Crystal Lake High School, Illinois, he and his wife, Peg (Eischeid) Reinert, class of 1965, reside in DeForest. They are the parents of a son, Scott, and a daughter, Lynn.
