Pat Bollman, class of 1983, is being inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletic Hall of Fame in the athlete category. He was a four-year letterman in baseball, starting all but one game during his four year career (118 of 119). In back-to-back years (1991-’92), he was named to the Division III All-American Third Team as an infielder. Also in 1991 and 1992, he earned All-IIAC First Team honors, team voted Bollman as Upper Iowa’s MVP and he was named to the District V NCAA team. As a junior, Bollman hit .411 overall and .478 in conference. He followed that up with a .471 conference batting average as a senior.
Following graduation, Bollman started his coaching career at Midland High School in Wyoming. After one year, he moved back to Fayette to coach the baseball team for a year. He spent seven years at North Fayette High School and then coached one year at Maquoketa High School. His North Fayette teams won two baseball conference titles and he was named District Coach of the Year in 1989 and 1992. For seven years, he has served as a baseball assistant at Maquoketa, where he received the IOWA BASEBALL COACHES honors in 1999. He returned as the head coach in 1999. His career baseball record is 182-91.
A graduate of M.F.L. Mar-Mac High School in Monona, Iowa, Bollman earned his bachelor of science degree in elementary education and physical education in 1983. He received his masters in elementary administration from Western Illinois University in 1995. He started his teaching career at Fayette Elementary, where he taught for seven years. He taught at Lowden for one year and is presently at the Maquoketa School District. In Maquoketa, Bollman spent two years as a teacher, one year as an assistant middle school principal and now, he is in his fifth year as the Elementary Principal at Briggs Elementary in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Pat and his wife, Kathy Jo (Evans) Bollman, class of 1983, reside in Maquoketa, Iowa. They are the parents of daughters, Amber and Kelsey and son, Trent.
