Mike King played on three Conference Championship basketball teams from 1962 to 1965 during his college career at Upper Iowa University. He was a member of the team that went to the N.A.I.A. National Tournament in 1965. In that same year, he was named to the N.A.I.A. District 15 First Team and was also honored as Upper Iowa’s Most Valuable Player.
After earning a master’s degree in 1967 from the University of California, Los Angeles, King was a probation officer for the County of Los Angeles and served for three years as Chief Probation Officer in Omaha, Nebraska. For a decade beginning in 1977, he has directed social work at the University of Arkansas Medical Center.
