Larry Borst is being inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame as an athlete. A 1973 graduate with a B.S. degree in Physical Education, he was a four-year letter winner in 1969, ‘70, ‘71 and ‘72 for the Peacock football team.
Borst was an outstanding defensive lineman for the Upper Iowa football team and was named All-I.I.A.C. as a defensive lineman for three consecutive years in 1970, ‘71 and ‘72. He was recruited to Upper Iowa by the late Coach Jim Killbreath and played under coaches Mike Olson and Jim Killbreath.
Borst was a graduate of Regis High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he received All-State honors in 1968 along with a first team All-City selection by the Cedar Rapids Gazette. He retired after 40 years as an engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway. Larry and his wife Dianne have been married for 27 years and are the parents of five children; Mindy, Melissa, Andrea, Travis and Zach. They live in Ottumwa, Iowa.
