Josh McKeon was inducted into the Upper Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame as an athlete. McKeon graduated from Upper Iowa in 2011 with a degree in marketing. McKeon played baseball for the Peacocks during the 2008-11 seasons after moving to Fayette from Rochester, Minnesota.
McKeon signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Indians following his senior season and posted 37 strikeouts in 33 innings in the minors. As a senior, the right hander was named as an All-NSIC first team performer and also earned a spot on the first team of three different all-region teams.
In 2011, McKeon posted a 5-3 record, but dominated with a 1.67 ERA in 11 starts and 80.2 innings. He only allowed 15 earned runs all season, while striking out 99 opponents; the third most in program history. McKeon averaged 11.05 strikeouts per nine innings, threw six complete games and earned two shutouts while holding opponents to a .189 average. In NSIC-only games, McKeon was 4-2 with a 1.15 ERA in seven starts; in his 54.2 innings, he allowed seven earned runs, struck out 71 and opponents hit .168.
During the stellar season, McKeon led several NSIC categories, including opponent batting average (.189), innings pitched (80.2), strikeouts (99), innings/game (7.33), strikeouts/game (11.05), hits allowed/game (6.14), and games started (11) while ranking second in runs allowed per game (2.45) and third in ERA (1.67).
McKeon currently works at Wipro as a practice manager for enterprise applications. He and his wife, Janie, live in Savage, Minnesota and together have their hands full with their two-year old golden retriever, Bogey.
