Jim Bushkofsky graduated from Upper Iowa in 1974 with a B.S. degree. While at UIU, Bushkofsky was an outstanding collegiate basketball and baseball player. In 1973 he set a state record for most points in one game by an Iowa collegiate player with 62 points. He led the Iowa Conference for two consecutive years with a 34.0 and 32.8 scoring average. He was also District 15 N.A.I.A leader at 33.9 and 31.8, and was cited in the February 1973 issue if "Sports Illustrated." Bushkofsky was selected the IIAC M.V.P. in 1973 and 1974 and presently holds five conference basketball records. He was honored as the recipient of the Clarkson Award in 1974, emblematic as the outstanding collegiate player in the state that year. The Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA drafted him in the 9th round. Bushkofskyt ended his collegeiate career with 2,194 total points, number one on the Upper Iowa career scoring list. Upper Iowa retired his uniform #54 in 1974. Bushkofsky excelled as well on the diamond for Peacock baseball as a pitcher/outfielder, being selected to the All-Conference baseball team in 1974.

Bushkofsky excelled on the Amateur Athletic Union scene at the end of his collegiate careers, being named the Most Valuable Player in both the AAU State of Iowa Basketball and Baseball Tournaments in 1977.

Bushkofsky taught at West Central School of Maynard from 1975-1978 and was the assistant boys basketball coach and the head baseball coach. Since 1978 he has been at the Maynard Cooperative Company and is presently manager of the fertilizer and chemical department.
