Jeff Roth is being inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame as an Athlete. He was a four-year letter winner in football from 1989-92.

Roth, a quarterback in the UIU football program, had an outstanding collegiate career in Peacock blue. He was named the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) MVP and All-IIAC First Team quarterback following his senior season in 1992. The 1992 team went 6-4 under Coach Paul Rudolph.

Roth set many IIAC and Upper Iowa records during his career in Peacock blue. As a player he set IIAC records for most passing yards in a season (2,208), most yards of total offense in a season (2,229 yards) and most touchdown passes in a season (19). These records were for IIAC games only.

At Upper Iowa, he still holds the records for most passing yards in a season (2,709), most passing yards in a career (6,379), most completions in a season (231), most completions in a career (545), most attempts in a season (379), most attempts in a career (1,034), most yards of total offense in a season (2,718), most yards of total offense in a career (6,235), and he’s tied for most touchdown passes in a season with Jesse Willis (26). Roth finished his career with the second most touchdown passes (46).

A psychology major at UIU, he earned a Master’s Degree from Adams State in 1994 and then spent three years at Quincy University as the Offensive Coordinator for the Hawks football team. In 1998, he returned to Upper Iowa as the Director of Recreation and Wellness and then the Director of Residence Life. Presently, he is in pharmaceutical sales, living in Waterloo with his wife Debra and family of Josephine, Isabella, and Anastasia.
