Dennis Brumm, class of 1961, is being inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletic Hall of Fame in the officials category. He is a graduate of New Hampton High School and was an All-State athlete in football. Brumm was president of the student senate while at Upper Iowa and was a four-year letter winner. In 1958 and 1959, he was named an All-IIAC Second Team performer at defensive end.
Following graduation from Upper Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree in business education, he served as a mathematics teacher at West Hancock High School in Britt, Iowa, for the next 36 years, retiring in 1997. He also received a Master of Science degree in mathematics from Southwestern Oklahoma State in 1968.
For 31 years, Brumm officiated Iowa boys and girls athletics, working eight times in the girls and boys state basketball tournaments in Des Moines, Iowa. He was honored by being inducted into the Iowa Boys High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1998. Brumm also has been the football announcer at West Hancock for the past 29 years.
He and his wife, Judith (Maxson) Brumm, class of 1968, reside in Britt. They are the parents of three daughters: Tammy, Jill and Kim.
