David Sanger graduated Cum Laude from Upper Iowa University in 1970. While in school at UIU, he was named an All-I.I.A.C. honoree in football three different times, All-N.A.I.A. District 15 for football two times, and All-American Honorary Mention in football in 1968 and 1969. He holds the UIU single-game rushing record in football, set in 1969.
Sanger was I.I.A.C. Wrestling Champ in 1968 and 1969, runner-up in the N.C.A.A. Wrestling Tournament in 1969, N.A.I.A. National Champion at 191 lbs. in 1969, All-American Wrestler in ’68 and ’69, and runner-up in the N.A.I.A. National Wrestling Tournament in 1970. He was also a letter winner in track for three years.
He received the UIU scholastic Honor Society Gold Key Award in ’68 and ’69, the Honorary Leadership Award in ’68 and ’69, and a Special Honors Day Award in ’69.
He taught at M-F-L High School, and now owns and operates a dairy, hog and beef farm operation.
