Christel Brown is being inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame as an athlete.  After transferring to Upper Iowa, she had an elite two years for the Peacock women's basketball team. Brown graduated from UIU with a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation with a minor in business.

Brown was selected to the Kodak All-American second team in 1986 after leading the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) in scoring with a 29.0 point average, which ranked 16th best in all of NCAA Division III that year.  She was a unanimous All-IIAC First Team selection in 1986 and for a time held three IIAC records for points in a game (45), field goals in a game (21), and season free throw percentage (81.2).  While the free throw percentage mark has been overtaken, Brown still holds the IIAC records for points and field goals in a game.

She played for coaches Denise Martin and Mary Bucklin.  Brown came to Upper Iowa from Burlington High School where she earned all-conference and Iowa All-State honors three times apiece for the Greyhounds.

In 1989, she joined the United States Navy and served proudly for 12 years reaching the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Brown currently resides in Buckeye, Arizona and is an operating manager for the Sam's/Walmart Corporation.
