BOB GOELLER, class of 1991, is being inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletic Hall of Fame as an Athlete. He was a four-year letter winner in both wrestling (1988, 1989, 1990, 1991) and football (1987, 1988, 1989, 1990). He earned All-American Wrestling honors in 1990 and 1991, placing fifth as a heavyweight in the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Goeller was a three-time place winner at heavyweight in the IIAC wrestling tournament, finishing third in 1988 and 1990 and second in 1991. He was a football first-team All-Conference IIAC lineman in 1990. Goeller started in 39 out of 40 games for the Peacock football team during his four-year career, missing only one start due to an ankle injury. During his interscholastic career at Wapsie Valley, he was named a football All-Stater twice and played for a state championship team in 1986. He was also a two-time qualifier for the state wrestling tournament.
Goeller earned a B.S. degree from Upper Iowa in Social Science in 1991. His teaching-coaching career has taken him to Waverly-Shell Rock, Dunkerton (for two years) and Wapsie Valley (for 10 years). He presently serves as a coach and teacher in Clarksville, Iowa.
Bob and his wife Nancy live in Fairbank, Iowa, and are the parents of Alex, Jake, Tyler and Mackenzie.
