Anthony "Tony" Sungalia earned a B.A. degree in 1934 from Upper Iowa University. During his time at UIU, Sungalia was a four-year letter-winner in football as the quarterback and kickoff, punt and drop-kick extra-point specialist. He also lettered four times in basketball playing both guard and center, and four times in baseball playing third base and shortstop. He served as captain and co-captain for all three sports.
As he recalls, he was never taken out of any game at Upper Iowa.
After graduation, Sungalia served in World War II as a flight instruct in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed for 28 years by the Reynold Corporation before retiring. He lives with his wife Helen in Clinton, Indiana.
