Angie Weber was inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame as an athlete. She came to Upper Iowa from Hastings High School in central Minnesota and was a four-year letter winner for the Peacock softball program. Weber completed her degree in elementary education at Upper Iowa.
Weber, a former Peacock pitcher, is Upper Iowa's all-time leader in strikeouts with 949 in her career. One of the most intimidating pitchers to enter the circle at the Eischeid Softball Complex, she owns four of the top five single-season marks for strikeouts including her junior campaign where she sent 304 batters back to the dugout empty handed. As a freshman, Weber claimed a place on the NCAA Division III Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Region third team. For the remainder of her career with the Peacocks, Weber led the softball program through the University's move up to NCAA Division II under Head Coach Brent Kuker posting a career record of 51-53.
Weber's name is littered throughout the UIU softball record book with top five single-season marks in earned run average, wins, appearances, games started, complete games and innings pitched. Her finest season came in 2005 as a junior. Weber appeared in 39 of UIU's 43 games starting 32 of them and accumulating 231 innings. She posted a 2.33 earned run average while striking out her record 304 batters and holding opponents to a .212 average at the plate.
After graduation, Weber began a teaching career that has spanned many different fields. She began as a preschool teacher, then substituted and became a paraprofessional. Three years ago she became a special education teacher and continues in that role today. She has stayed connected to her home in the circle through middle school coaching or private pitching lessons to softball players in Hastings. Weber is nearing the completion of her master's degree in special education from St. Mary's University of Minnesota and will finish her thesis in the fall of 2017.
